Semester : 2
Aims
The course aims to provide an introduction of effects of vibration on human body in various environments and man-machine interface design, covering the design approaches, health effects of whole-body and local vibration, vibration measurements and prevention strategies in man-machine engineering. As an optional module for the Masters in Mechanical Engineering, it will provide the knowledge base and engineering approaches for the Program.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of the unit students will be able to:
Understand and apply the main theories and methods of man-machine engineering;
Understand the health effects of whole-body and local vibration in various environments;
Apply the knowledge and skills acquired to the study of the effects of whole-body or local vibration on human body, and the design of man-machine interface.
Assessment
Regular assignments: 30%
Final examination: 70%
Re-sit: examination, 100%
